The Alternative Girls Center successfully completed and organized the Peer Educators Camp from July 12 to the 14 at the “Idila” hotel on Jastrebac.

This year’s camp was attended by young women from 16 to 25 years of age from the Rasina region, but also from Kraljevo and Leskovac.

During the three days the participants attended workshops about gender based violence, digital gender based violence, as well as on workshop work and peer education.

One of the main aims of this project is to educate young women on these topics and enable them to pass this knowledge to their peers later on, but also to increase their ability to recognize and prevent various forms of gender based violence.

Participants told us that for some of them this was the first time they went through informal education, while those more experienced said this was an opportunity to expand on existing knowledge, and get to know other young women and honestly share their experiences and opinions with them.

The Alternative Girls Center will continue working with this group in the coming period so as to provide additional knowledge and prepare them for future workshop work, and in that way we will contribute to violence prevention amongst high school aged youth and youth in general.

The camp was organized with support from the Equality Fund and the Global Fund for Women.
